Mexico City Parade Balloons
Late in 2010 and again early spring 2011 we were contacted by the parade organizers of the first ever “Children’s Parade” to take place in Mexico City, MX July of 2011. They’d contacted other parade balloon manufacturers throughout the World and made the decision to go with Big Ideas Parade Giants.
The requirements and challenge were to produce 10 large helium parade balloons for the event of various well known characters in Mexico and others including Spiderman, Mickey Mouse, and Phineas and Ferb. After several weeks of consulting back and forth and time running short, in May of 2011 the balloon lineup was finalized. Now for the hard work. How to build 10 giant parade balloons in 8 weeks. Normally, 1 parade balloon can take a minimum of 4 weeks up to 12 weeks or longer to produce. We had 10 parade balloons ranging in size from 38 ft – 95 ft. To make a very long story short, due to a raging forest fire threatening our balloon studio and repeated fire evacuation orders in Sierra Vista, AZ, and some final details that needed additional design work, the production group we put together committed to 7 of those 10 balloons. All of those 7 balloons were completed on time, delivered, and flown down the parade route in front of 350,000 plus people on July 17, 2011.
